Frontiersman, America’s 250th Commemoration Blade
Collaboration by Amoureux Knives & Soul of Creation Forge
The American 250th Limited Production Frontiersman Knife is an 11.25-inch masterwork born from a profound intersection of custom bladesmithing, military heritage, and personal history. Only 26 of these knives will ever be made.
What elevates this limited heirloom beyond a standard custom knife is its core material: a piece of literal, combat-ready American armor with a highly specific, dramatic origin story.
The Provenance of the Steel: Boise's "Charlie Company"
The outer cladding of the blade carries the DNA of the United States Marine Corps—specifically from Charlie Company, 4th Tank Battalion, based out of Boise, Idaho.
In 2016, a newly minted Tank Commander accidentally had a negligent discharge with his M2 .50 caliber machine gun. The heavy rounds struck the main gun barrel of the unit's M1A1 Abrams Main Battle Tank. Because the structural integrity of a tank’s main gun operates under immense pressure, the damage meant the massive barrel had to be condemned, decommissioned, and completely cut up.
Will Amoureux, who was serving as a USMC Reserve Tank Mechanic for Charlie Company at the time, was given portions of the destroyed barrel with a clear purpose: to preserve its legacy by turning the steel into knives. In 2021, the Marine Corps officially disbanded all of its tank battalions, making this salvaged steel a rare relic from the definitive end of the USMC armor era
To honor the metal, the makers used a traditional, three-layer San Mai lamination process that blends high-performance cutting steel with historic armor:
The Core: A beautifully patterned Damascus steel core that delivers a razor-sharp, long-lasting edge.
The Shim: A bright nickel layer that acts as a high-contrast, gleaming accent line flanking the core.
The Cladding: An outer jacket made from reclaimed USMC M1A1 tank barrel steel, forged down into sleek, resilient protective layers.
The Finish: A hand-satin finish on the 6-inch blade that beautifully highlights the distinct transitions between the tank steel, nickel, and Damascus.
Built over rigid black G10 liners, the handle is a multi-material tribute to American frontier heritage and military service:
The Bolster: A modern, tactical Grip-Tec bolster that provides a secure, weather-resistant grip. Available in five colors: OD Green, Red, Blue, Gray, and Black.
The Scale: Premium Black Walnut, mirroring the rich heritage of classic American military rifle stocks.
The Accents & Inlays: Precision-fit brass and black G10 spacers, secured with solid brass pins.
The Mosaic Pins: Custom brass mosaic pins depicting the American Flag and Eagle, celebrating the nation's upcoming 250th anniversary.
